Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has bagged the exclusive media rights for the 2022 Asian Games from November 2021 to September 2023. The association is going to give SPN the exclusive rights to broadcast the 19th edition of the Asian Games on its sports channels LIVE, across the Indian Sub-continent.
Sony is going to LIVE Stream the Mega- Games on its OTT Platform that is SonyLIV in the Indian Subcontinent. The Sub-Continent territories include Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bhutan and Maldives.
This is super beneficial for SPN as the company will have exclusive rights to produce clips and highlights throughout the deal’s tenure.
Asian Games LIVE Broadcast
The 2022 Asian Games is going to be held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China and five other co-host cities from September 10 to September 25, 2022.
Events
The mega sports event is set to feature 40 sports and a total of 61 disciplines. These include Olympic sports like swimming, archery, athletics, badminton, equestrian, fencing, football, hockey, judo, kabaddi and much more. E-sports and breakdancing are going to make their debuts this year in the Asian Games as full medal sports after it got approved by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in 2022. Cricket is going to make a comeback at Asian Games in T20 format to raise the viewership from India and other cricket playing nations.
History will be created as more than 300 athletes from Oceania countries have got the opportunity to compete in the 19th edition of the Asian Games. They will be competing in five sports that include: triathlon, athletics, wushu, roller skating and weightlifting.
India at this event
India has been a member of the South Asian Zone of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and it is the only one among the seven countries that competed with every edition of games of this tournament.
India’s achievements
India has won a minimum of one gold medal at every Asian Games and has always maintained its rank within the top 10 nations of the medal table, the 1990 edition being the only odd year.
So far, India has bagged 139 gold, 178 silver and 299 bronze medals at the Asian Games and hopefully the amount of medals is going to rise up this year.
