Messi will be leaving Barcelona and he has discussed this with his former teammate Neymar.
Lionel Messi has been a one-club man in this era of football riches. His loyalty to Barcelona is unquestionable.
It’s hard to imagine a Barcelona side without Messi. But the magician will turn 33 in 2021 and maybe that is when he will be leaving Barcelona.
Messi has been omnipresent in Barcelona. Many great players have come and gone like Ronaldinho, Neymar but Messi has always been there for the Blaugrana.
According to a sensational story by France Football, who claim to have seen a very interesting WhatsApp conversation between Messi and his former Barcelona team-mate Neymar. The conversation is supposed to have taken place last season after Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League by Liverpool. Messi is said to have urged Neymar to leave Paris Saint-Germain and return to Camp Nou last summer.
Messi is alleged to have told his former Barcelona teammate: “Only together can we win the Champions League.
I want you to come back. In two years, I’m leaving, and you’ll be alone, you’ll take my place.”
Neymar left Barcelona in a world-record fee of €222million to PSG in the summer of 2017. It is said that he left Barcelona to escape Messi’s shadow.
But now, as it seems that Messi is planning to leave Barcelona in 2 years, he wants the Brazilian back at Camp Nou to take his place.
Neymar also wanted a return to Camp Nou last season but the transfer did not fell through and now he is still a PSG player.
PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel told France Info about Neymar: “[It’s] not easy at all! He has a big, big heart, but unfortunately, he doesn’t always show that he’s a generous, reliable boy. Sometimes he’s provocative and it’s a great pity because it’s not necessary.”
“I tell him. We laugh a lot together and I always try to tell the truth. He accepts it, but it’s hard. Ney is provocative when he feels something is wrong, but he isn’t when he is calm.”
Neymar has not played many games for PSG this season due to injury and Thomas Tuchel has benched him for the last few matches. So, Neymar’s transfer speculation is going to rise again to the surface.
But whether Neymar does end up going back or not, it’s more important to realise we may have only less than two more years left of Messi at Barcelona. So enjoy the magician in action, while it lasts.
