Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill are the three draft picks for the Ahmedabad IPL franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 Auction. However, Ahmedabad would pay both Hardik and Rashid Rs 15 crore each, with the former taking charge of the team. Shubman will be compensated for Rs 7 crore.
Hardik Pandya will be leading a team in the IPL for the first time after being sacked by the Mumbai Indians owing to poor form and injury concerns. Ahmedabad
About the Pickups
The Mumbai Indians scouts discovered Hardik. He was signed by MI in 2015 for Rs 10 lakh and has since been an integral player of the team. He established himself as India’s finest all-rounder, amassing 1,476 runs and capturing 42 wickets in 92 matches, establishing himself as the top allrounder in the country. MI bought him back for Rs 11 crore before the 2018 auction.
It came down to a choice between two franchises for Rashid Khan: Ahmedabad or Lucknow. And, after receiving a huge rise of Rs 6 crore, he will don the Ahmedabad shirt. He was making Rs 9 crore every season at SRH when his wage discussions fell through, and he was fired. He has 92 wickets in 76 IPL appearances and is considered the best T20 spinner.
Shubman Gill will switch allegiance to Ahmedabad for a big increase, despite his desire to continue with Kolkata Knight Riders. Shubman Gill has 1,417 runs at an average of 31.48 in 58 matches.
Salary Jump for the Trio
While the IPL Governing Council set three slabs for the two new entrants — Rs 15 crore, Rs 11 crore, and Rs 7 crore, with Rs 4 crore for uncapped players – Ahmedabad elected to maintain both Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan in the same Rs 15 crore bracket.
Salary jump for Ahmedabad trio: Hardik Pandya – Rs 15 Cr from Rs 11 Cr (MI), Rashid Khan – Rs 15 Cr from Rs 11 Cr (SRH), and Shubman Gill – Rs 7 Cr from Rs 1.8 Cr (KKR).
The Ahmedabad IPL franchise has already established three key positions: opener, all-rounder, and spinner. Ahmedabad, on the other hand, would surpass the Rs 33-crore milestone as a result of the three announcements. As a result, they would have Rs 53 crore to spend in the IPL 2022 Auction to sign 15 players.
Ahmedabad, which is supported by CVC Capital, has also finalized its coaching lineup in addition to the three players. The head coach will be Ashish Nehra, while Gary Kirsten will also be on the coaching staff. Vikram Solanki, the current coach of Surrey, will be the Team Director for Ahmedabad.
