NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti laptop GPU to be its most powerful & power-hungry GPU ever

At CES 2022, NVIDIA will debut the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU for laptops, which will be the most powerful graphics chip ever produced for the mobile category. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Ti GPUs for notebooks have already received a lot of attention. The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti (16 GB GDDR6) and RTX 3070 Ti (8 GB GDDR6) GPUs will be part of the range. Both are based on the Ampere GPU architecture, which will boost NVIDIA’s performance in the high-end laptop gaming category even further.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will have 16 GB of GDDR6 RAM set across a 256-bit bus interface at 16 Gbps, according to Videocardz. These are the fastest memory rates available on a laptop, with bandwidth reaching half a terabyte per second (512 GB/s). This is also two gigabits per second faster than the current fastest mobile processor, the RTX 3080, which boasts a memory bandwidth of 14 gigabits per second.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti mobile GPU is reported to be the first to use the GA103 SKU, albeit we don’t know how many cores it has. It is expected to have 58 Compute Units (CUDA cores) and will be available in both normal and Max-Q configurations. The GPU is supposed to have a clock speed of 1395 MHz.

However, with all of the increased horsepower and features, the power demand will shift dramatically. As a result, the TGP of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will be 175W. (10W higher than RTX 3080 Mobile). While it is the TGP created by NVIDIA, which contains Dynamic Boost 2.0 technology, OEMs can tweak it to their liking. However, NVIDIA has said that OEMs should be upfront to consumers about any 3rd party power constraints established for their GPUs.

Expect a huge range of laptops featuring NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3080 Ti & RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPUs at CES 2022 coupled with AMD’s Ryzen 6000H (Rembrandt) and Intel Alder Lake-P CPUs.
