Manchester United are gearing up for the winter transfer window by sorting out their budget first. Ralf Rangnick is set to work with a €76.5 million budget in his first transfer window in charge of the Red Devils.
But, the German will only be allowed to work with that kind of a budget if he lets go of his fringe players. The team needs to be rebuilt after a very difficult start to the season. The squad is unbalanced, and Rangnick is expected to add some level of stability to the team.
They will need new players to truly challenge for the top four places, with the kind of quality that the league currently has.
Which Manchester United fringe players will be sold?
Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial are two of the players that are headed out in the January transfer window.
Martial has been on the radar of Barcelona for the last few months, and could finally make the move away from United when the transfer window opens up for business. Sevilla and Newcastle United have also emerged as potential destinations for the Frenchman.
Jesse Lingard spent the latter half of the previous season on loan at West Ham United. And now, it seems that this season could end with a loan spell for him as well. The midfielder has not agreed to a new deal and will leave Manchester United at the end of the season.
Second-choice goalkeeper Dean Henderson could also be on his way out of the club. David De Gea seems to be the first preference for Ralf Rangnick, and the Englishman is potentially on his way out to Ajax.
