Ukraine left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko will join Everton from Dynamo Kiev. The player is set to complete his medical for the Premier League club today. He will then sign his contract, and the deal will be announced imminently.
Renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has given the transfer his famous ‘here we go’ signal, which means that the deal is as good as done. Personal terms have been agreed between the player and his new club for a while. Dynamo Kiev will be receiving around €23 million for their defender, as he makes the move to England.
Who is Vitaliy Mykolenko?
The 22-year-old is a product of the Dynamo Kiev academy, and has spent his entire career so far with them. He extended his contract with them as recently as October 2020, but has decided to leave the club now that a good offer has arrived. He has four years left on his current deal, which has possibly driven his price up higher.
The Ukrainian has earned 21 caps for the national team, since making his debut in November 2018. He will be competing for game time with Lucas Digne, who has established himself as the first choice left-back at the club.
If a good offer arrives for the player, then Digne could end up leaving Goodison Park in January. In that case, Mykolenko would be the first choice left-back under Rafa Benitez. He will be registered when the January window opens and won’t be allowed to play until that time.
