Jamshedpur FC picked up a hard fought, yet controversial win against ATK Mohun Bagan in the ISL to come up to second place. Here are the four key talking points from the big game.

Where’s the Penalty?

Antonio Habas was fuming on the touchline for being denied two penalties on account of handball. A bizarre day of refereeing saw the Mariners being denied a penalty after a clear handball, which led to them ultimately dropping all three points on the day.

Offside?

In yet another controversial call by the referees, the goal scored by ATK in the final minutes of the game should’ve been ruled out for offside. The ball ricocheted off the keeper and into Ashutosh Mehta, before it was touched by Pritam Kotal while going in.

Jamshedpur FC striker Nerijus Valskis was furious at the referee for not ruling the goal out for offside. The goal stood to make the final minutes even more dramatic, but Jamshedpur ultimately held on to earn the win.

22 Seconds is All it Takes

After being brought on for striker Greg Stewart, Alex Lima only needed 22 seconds to score for Jamshedpur FC. His effort from the edge of the box was wide enough to beat the keeper, as he ran to the bench to celebrate.

Ultimately, it was his strike that won it for the Men of Steel following ATK Mohun Bagan’s late goal.

Woes for ATK Mohun Bagan

ATK Mohun Bagan have lost consecutive matches for the first time in the ISL. This only goes to show the kind of quality that they have achieved for themselves in the division. After the 5-1 loss against Mumbai, they have now been defeated 2-1 by Jamshedpur, who are looking very good this season.

ATK will have to find a way to get things back on track, as they take on Chennaiyin in their next game. Jamshedpur, on the other hand, will have little time to rest as they face off against Mumbai City FC on the 9th in their next game.
