Christian Eriksen considering a return to Ajax to continue his career

Christian Eriksen will not be continuing at Inter Milan, as revealed earlier. The laws in Italy prohibit players with heart issues from playing professionally. Inter are ready to sell the player since he won’t be allowed to continue playing anymore.

The midfielder has made 60 appearances for the team, and helped them win the Scudetto last year. He collapsed on the pitch in Denmark’s first Euro game against Finland, and was taken to a hospital immediately. While he was discharged after a few days, he was fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).

An ICD is a device connected to the heart by wires that sends electrical impulses to help maintain the cardiac rhythm. The 29-year-old has not played a football game since the incident in the Euros. However, he is reportedly fit as of now.

A return to former club Ajax could be on the cards for Christian Eriksen. According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Ajax could make a move when the contract is officially terminated and he is a free agent.

Dutch centre-back Daley Blind also plays for club and country with a defibrillator installed. Eriksen could also be able to feature in the Eredivisie, and not have to hang up his boots at 29.

Inter Milan are not expecting to receive a transfer fee for the player. As a result, they will terminate his contract soon and move his €7.5 million salary off the books. Eriksen and the Inter board are on good terms with each other and decide the future together.
