If you have already been a die-hard Marvel fan, you would surely love the Guardian of the Galaxy movie and Starlord’s fantastic journey to save the universe. Well, to recreate the same thing again, Eidos-Montréal has again brought up an amazing game, published by Square Enix.
This follows the launch of another successful Marvel’s Avengers game which launched a year back, and to continue the momentum, the developers of this game have put up a lot of hard work. Also, it has become one of the few games which support both NVIDIA’s DLSS and ray tracing, making the game more lifelike than ever.
The best part of the game is its deep partnership with NVIDIA will enable GeForce gamers to experience the best graphics possible. I have used to review this game using our Founder’s Edition RTX 3070 Ti (whose review is coming soon) paired with a very reliable Ryzen 7 5800X, so overall, at 4K, this is a great setup.
For the best experience at 4K ultra settings and ray tracing, NVIDIA does prefer you to play with RTX 3080, while the RTX 3070 is an option for 1440p gamers. I used Ray tracing and quality set to High or Ultra depending on the scenario, while thanks to DLSS, you will experience no lags or frame drops whatsoever if you set at quality.
The start of the game gives a bit of nostalgia when you see Starlod, aka Peter Quill’s childhood with his mom, and then you are introduced to his team, aka Groot, Drax, Gamora and Rocket, inside Peter’s iconic spaceship.
You wouldn’t have experienced Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy in such rich detail in the movie, with minute details being focused more on the game. When you first play the game, you will see Peter’s spaceship, and various compartments, the command area where actually you embark on multiple missions.
Talking more about the gameplay, graphics and the onset, I think Eidos-Montréal has done a phenomenal job in making space such beautiful. Until now, only Lucas Arts and its Star Wars franchise games had such beautiful illustrations of space, but you will be glad how accurate, minute, this game is.
The rich Marvel comics come to life in Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy game, and you will enjoy playing as Starlod, leading the group and helping it battle through the different weird objectives and places.
Each character has its personality and special moves you can use; as a leader of the group, you have to use the signature abilities of each of the characters to fight against weird space enemies. Also, kudos to Marvel and the team behind making this game so intuitive and lifelike because interacting with others in the group is more fun than ever.
You have to battle against enemies and explore the space with your team, and that’s an enjoyable experience; it feels as if you are into the comics for one second. On the other hand, GeForce gamers will enjoy the optimizations made into this game, especially RTX 30-series GPU owners who can comfortably play the game at 4K highest settings with DLSS turned on.
Before playing, I had thought about whether the game would be boring as most of us are familiar with the story. However, kudos to Marvel; the game has a lot of references to the original movie. Still, you can experience it in detail about the story, don’t worry, all the screenshots are based on the first two missions; we also don’t intend to spoil all the fun!
Well, I have played a lot of these space games, but kudos to Eidos-Montréal; I felt this game more enjoyable than ever as you can totally be a space hero here. Using the real spaceship of Peter Quill and controlling it felt great, thanks to DLSS, I saw no frame drops in most challenging situations playing at 4K max settings with ray tracing at High or Ultra.
Another feature I definitely liked about this game is the storyline, and your actions/reactions to situations can totally change the aspect of the game. The little decisions could change the game’s timeline, much like what you saw in Cyberpunk 2077, and honestly, I liked this.
If you closely look at the screenshots, notice the details of the characters, the faces, the onset, the ray-traced shadows & lights; this is one heck of an experience you need to feel! Any Marvel fan should genuinely go for this game undoubtedly, the rich graphics, thanks to NVIDIA for optimizations, rich gameplay & details, this is 2021’s best games I’ve ever played!
Personally, I am a Marvel fan, and truly I am saying I totally enjoyed playing the game at the highest graphics settings, and it felt like a movie I am experiencing. If you still haven’t ordered this game, I highly recommend you to experience Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy rather than playing because it’s more than “just any game”.
