Arsenal defeated Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, winning 2-0. The North London club have extended their undefeated streak to seven games. They have not lost a game since their 5-0 thrashing at Manchester City.
Aaron Ramsdale was the hero of the game for Arsenal. The keeper made eight saves to keep a clean sheet against the Foxes. He was unbeatable between the sticks, and pulled off a world-class stop as well.
Leicester City began the game rather in a disoriented fashion, and Arsenal took full advantage of it. Gabriel converted a well delivered corner from Bukayo Saka at the near post to open the scoring.
Shortly after, Emile Smith-Rowe doubled the lead for the Gunners. Leicester were struggling to coordinate and clear a loose ball, and the midfielder took advantage of the miscommunication to slot the ball past Kasper Schmeichel.
Brendan Rodgers’ team slowly grew into the game, and were the better side in the second half. However, Ramsdale’s heroics ensured that the home team could not find a breakthrough. Arsenal’s defense was tested throughout the second half, and we saw a resolute performance from them to deny their opponents time and time again.
After starting the season in a very poor fashion, Mikel Arteta has turned things around in the last seven games. They have taken 17 out of 21 available points and currently have 17 points from ten games.
Consistency is the name of the game in the Premier League. And if Arteta can manage to continue this form for his team, they might be able to return to European competitions at the end of the season.
