Paul Pogba has been offered to Barcelona according to ESPN, and he will be available to join them on a free transfer next year once his contract expires.
The France international has played 215 games for the English club, and is one of the most expensive transfers in the Premier League. He has been offered a new deal by Manchester United but is still a while away from reaching an agreement with the club. Should there be no mutual agreement between the two parties, then Pogba will be able to depart for nothing at all next year.
While the transfer would not involve a fee, it would bring about Pogba’s wage demands as well, which are among the highest in the world. And given Barcelona’s wage cap, it is unlikely that they will be able to offer the player the money he wants.
Several senior players have had to take a wage cut this season, and signing a new player with a high salary will surely reduce the morale of the club.
Pogba is amongst the most decorated midfielders in the world and has won the World Cup with France. He recently lifted the Nations League with the national team after defeating Spain in the finals.
Moreover, Pogba has stated time and time again that he dreams of playing for Real Madrid. Joining their biggest rivals amidst interest from Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain might not be the most appropriate career choice for the midfielder.
