Capcom wants to achieve a 50-50 split between PC and Consoles

Japan has always been headstrong in developing games for Consoles and has maintained enough distance from the PC games development market. A prime example of this tradition is capcom, remember Street Fighter? Hadoken!!

Capcom has simply maintained its distance from PC and has never released any of its creations onto the platform. However, when it did enter the PC gaming world its reputation got stained with the ports of games like Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry 3, which were legendary but were turned into a joke on PC.

However, times have changed and we now have amazing games from Capcom for PC such as  Monster Hunter: World and Devil May Cry V and both are amazing.

And the Japanese gaming studio has no further plans of staying under the radar anymore and seems to have much larger ambitions for PC. According to sources, the company has plans to make PC their primary platform and hopes to achieve a 50-50 split between PC and consoles by 2022 or 2023.

This is quite a big decision by Capcom and seems like somewhat of a stretch, particularly in their home country of Japan, where consoles and mobile devices are where most gaming is done.

Capcom’s most successful title to date for PC is Monster Hunter: World and the game did best on computers outside of Japan, selling 5.7 million on PC compared to around 5.5 million on PS4.
