Franck Ribery joins Fiorentina in a free transfer after his contract with Bayern Munich ended last season.
The 36-year-old French winger, Franck Ribery spent 12 seasons with Bayern Munich. He scored 124 goals in 425 appearances for the Bavarians. He also won a club-record of 24 titles, which includes the UEFA Champions League in 2013 and 9 Bundesliga titles. The Frenchman left the club at the end of the 2018/19 season when his contract with Bayern expired.
After leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season, Ribery had been linked with moves to China, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. He has, though, opted to remain in one of Europe’s top five leagues. He has now arrived in Florence to complete a move to Fiorentina.
According to reports, Fiorentina has offered Ribery a two-year contract earning approximately €4 million per year.
Ribery will follow in the footsteps of former Bayern striker Mario Gomez, who also signed for Fiorentina after four successful years at Bayern Munich. Ribery will also find himself sharing the locker room with another Boateng: FC Fiorentina recently signed Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng’s brother Kevin-Price Boateng, after his quick stint at Barcelona. Both the moves will improve the quality of Fiorentina’s squad. Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella hopes to lead Fiorentina back to European competition.
Fiorentina will kick off their Serie A season against Napoli on Sunday.
