Real Madrid tried everything in their power to bring PSG star Mbappe to the Bernabeu this summer. They offer around 200 million euros to the French giants, but they ignored the bid despite Mbappe’s contract ending next year and he is reluctant to sign a new deal.
Benzema returned to the France team in Euro 2020 after a long absence and he paired up with Kylian Mbappe. However, they surprisingly lost to a brilliant Switzerland side on penalties.
Karim Benzema said to RTL after France’s 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina last night: “We would have liked to win the match, in France, in front of our fans. We had some nice moves in the first half. In the second half, with the red card, we retreated a bit, which makes sense when you are a man down. It’s a good thing that the crowd were looking forward to watching us, so that they could be the 12th man, as they say.”
Real Madrid striker further insisted that Kylian Mbappe will eventually come to Real Madrid.
Benzema said: “[Mbappé] is a player who one day will be at Real Madrid. We get on really well, I’d like for him to be with me in Madrid now.”
Real Madrid can make a pre-contract agreement with Mbappe as soon as on 1st January as the Frenchman’s contract with PSG runs out on 30th July 2022. As things stand now, Mbappe to Real Madrid will happen in all probability next summer.
