Biomutant makes the sale of over one million copies earning back its production cost

Biomutant is an action role-playing game developed by Swedish developer Experiment 101 and published by THQ Nordic. The game was released on 25 May 2021 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, Versions of the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are expected to arrive shortly.

The open-world RPG game from Experiment 101, Biomutant, has reportedly sold over one million copies and made its development costs back within its opening week.

The game was such a huge success that Experiment 101’s parent company, Embracer Group mentioned in its Q1 interim report that, Biomutant acted as a key contributor to sales and revenue generated in the quarter.

The company further confirmed the success of Biomutant in the report. “The main revenue driver in the quarter was the release of Biomutant from our internal studio Experiment 101. So far, the game has sold more than one million copies. The full investment into development and marketing as well as the acquisition cost for Experiment 101 and the IP, was recouped within a week after launch.”

However, despite having a huge financial success, Biomutant launched with several performance problems across PlayStation and Xbox which resulted in low-quality textures as well as framerate issues.

But after receiving the community feedback, Experiment 101 tweaked a wide range of aspects within the game across some subsequent patches. Not just the bug fixes and tweaks, but Experiment 101, also made additional changes to combat, loot variation, UI, quests, and even the game’s narrator. The latest patch notes for Biomutant were tweeted out by the developer in June.

Patch time for #Biomutant on PC & PS: Version 1.5 is out now! We've increased the level cap, cut down on duplicates, added lock-on for melee, a dynamic HUD, tweaked NG+ and more. Also, fixes.
