Xiaomi unveils the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro

Xiaomi has finally unveiled its first tablets in 3 years, the Mi Pad 5 and the Mi Pad 5 Pro. The launch was held today where the Mi MIX 4 and the Mi OLED TV lineup were also launched.

The lineup consists of a Wi-Fi-only Vanilla Mi Pad 5 and the Mi Pad 5 Pro which has both Wi-Fi and a 5G version as well. Following are the detailed specs:

Xiaomi Mi Pad 5

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 comes with an 11″ WQHD+ 120Hz LCD screen with Dolby Vision. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 860 SoC, it has an 8MP front camera selfie shooter and a 13MP sensor on the rear.

The Mi Pad 5 has an 8720mAh battery with support for 33W charging. The device will run on Android 11 based MIUI for Pad 12.5, the device has liquid cooling technology and features four speakers, all with support for Dolby Atmos.

Coming to the RAM, it has an LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 3.1, support for Bluetooth 5.0, and will come in 2 variants, a 6GB+128GB that will retail for CNY 1,999(23,000 INR) and a 6GB+256GB that will retail for CNY 2,299(26,400 INR).

The Mi Pad 5 will weigh 511g and be 6.85mm thick.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro also has an 11″ WQHD+ 120Hz LCD screen with support for Dolby Vision. The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 870 chipset, coming to the camera specs of the device, the Mi Pad 5 Pro will have a 13MP+5MP rear camera setup and an 8MP front selfie shooter.

PAD PRO 2 Xiaomi unveils the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro

The 5G-enabled version of the Mi Pad 5 Pro will feature a 50MP+5MP rear camera setup, a much better version, it will have the same 8MP front camera, however.

The Mi Pad 5 Pro will have an 8600mAh battery with support for 67W charging. It runs on Android 11 based MIUI for Pad 12.5 and coming to the RAM, it has an LPDDR5, UFS 3.1 RAM with Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2.

The device has 8 speakers, all supporting Dolby Atmos. It has Liquid Cooling technology and weighs 515g and is 6.86mm thick.

The Wi-Fi-enabled version of the Mi Pad 5 Pro comes in two storage variants, a 6GB+128GB variant that will retail for CNY 2,499(28,700 INR) and a 6GB+256GB variant that will retail for CNY 2,799(32,150 INR). The 5G enabled version of the Mi Pad 5 Pro comes in an 8GB+256GB variant that retails for CNY 3,499(40,200 INR).

For now, this is a China-exclusive release, Xiaomi is yet to announce the other markets it intends to release this device in.
