Xiaomi launches its much-hyped Mi MIX 4 with Under display camera in China

Xiaomi has launched the next version of the Mi MIX lineup in China today, founder Lei Jun unveiled the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 alongside the Mi Pad 5 and the Mi TV OLED lineup during their launch event.

For now, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 is a China-exclusive launch, we have no clue as to when the device will release globally or in other markets. The Mi MIX 4 is the second flagship device that Xiaomi has revealed this year after the Mi 11 Ultra that was released in March 2021. The Chinese tech giant had also launched their own foldable phone in April with top-notch specifications.

Taking a look at the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4, the device sports a 6.67″ AMOLED panel on its screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The display has a resolution of 1080x2400p and comes with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision Certification as well. The screen is covered by the Gorilla Glass Victus, the best out there for enhanced protection.

Coming to the camera specs of the device, Xiaomi has integrated an under-display front camera for the Mi MIX 4, it is a 20MP sensor that is capable of shooting videos in 1080p at 30fps, or in 720p at 120fps and also 960 fps.

At the rear is a triple-camera setup with a 108MP primary sensor with PDAF and OIS. The other two cameras are an 8MP periscope telephoto lens and a 13MP ultrawide sensor. The 8MP unit comes equipped with PDAF, OIS, and 5x optical zoom.

The Mi MIX 4 has a ceramic back that ensures the durability of the device and it also has an aluminum frame. The Mi MIX 4 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ 5G, based on the 5nm architecture. The Mi MIX 4 has been unveiled in 4 new variants, an 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, and 12GB+512GB.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 runs on Android 11 based MIUI 12.5, it is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. Xiaomi claims the Mi MIX 4 is capable of going from 0 to 100 in terms of battery life in just 15 minutes of wired charging and 28 minutes with wireless charging!

The Mi MIX 4 also has amazing stereo speakers that have been tuned by Harman Kardon, it supports 5G connectivity, has Wi-Fi 802.11, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS, QZSS, NavIC, NFC support, and USB Type-C 2.0.

Xiaomi has released the Mi MIX 4 in ceramic black, ceramic white, and shadow cyan color variants. The 8GB+128GB variant will retail for CNY 4,999(57,400 INR), the 8GB+256GB variant will retail for CNY 5,299(60,850 INR), the 12GB+256GB variant will retail for CNY 5,799(66,600 INR), and the 12GB+512GB will retail for CNY 6,299(72,300 INR).

The Mi MIX 4 is definitely a loaded device, perfectly balanced all around, we have to see how it fares in the competitive flagship market, but it certainly has been worth the 3-year wait!
