According to the latest sources, a new entry of Intel’s Alder Lake-S based Core i7-12700K CPU has recently been discovered within the SiSoftware Sandra database. The CPU was running on a desktop platform and it will be a part of the Alder Lake-S segment soon to be launched later this year.
For now, there is no name that we could find about the CPU however after looking at its specifications, we can say for sure that it the Intel’s Core i7-12700K (12700) SKU. The tested sample features 12 cores and 8 of them are based on the Golden Cove and 4 based on the Goldmont architecture.
This configuration offers us a total of 24 threads out of which 16 threads are performance cores and 8 threads are efficiency cores. Coming to the clock speeds of the CPU, since this is an engineering sample it’s better to have a glass of water ready to digest this bogus info. The test sample offered a 1.20 GHz base and 3.40 GHz boost frequency but this should be much higher in the actual product and the final qualification variant must be pretty high as well.
Coming to the cache of the SoC, for now, the existing benchmarking software suites still aren’t fully capable of recognizing the Alder Lake-S hybrid CPUs fully, so we can assume that the actual core and thread count may be inaccurate. According to sources, the chip is identified as a 12 core and 24 thread CPU while it has 12 core and 20 threads.
For the cache count, we have the 9 cores, however, the software is reading the 8 performance cores correctly. But, the efficient core cluster is made up of 4 cores and the software recognizes it as 1 whole core.

Following is what the core configuration of all Alder Lake CPUs is rumoured to look like:
- Intel Core i9 K-Series (8 Golden + 8 Grace) = 16 Cores / 24 Threads
- Intel Core i7 K-Series (8 Golden + 4 Grace) = 12 Cores / 20 Threads
- Intel Core i5 K-Series (6 Golden + 4 Grace) = 10 Cores / 16 Threads
- Intel Core i9 A-Series (8 Golden + 8 Grace) = 16 Cores / 24 Threads
- Intel Core i7 A-Series (8 Golden + 4 Grace) = 12 Cores / 20 Threads
- Intel Core i5 A-Series (6 Golden + 0 Grace) = 6 Cores / 12 Threads
- Intel Core i3 A-Series (4 Golden + 0 Grace) = 4 Cores / 8 Threads
