Smartphone launch season is about, to begin with, tech giants including Apple and Google launching their premium smartphones in the fall this year. While the iPhone and Pixel makers are expected to launch their next-generation premium smartphones in the fall this year, tech companies including Samsung and Infinix are expected to launch a bunch of new smartphones in the coming month. We already know that Samsung will be hosting a special event on August 11 wherein it is expected to launch its next-generation foldable. In addition to that, Infinix is expected to launch a new budget smartphone in India this month. So, here are all the smartphones that are expected to launch in August:
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3
Samsung will be hosting a special event on August 11 wherein it is expected to launch its next generation of foldable display smartphones, which includes the Galaxy Z Fold 3 smartphone. It is tipped to come with a 7.55-inch primary display, and a 6.23-inch exterior display, both of which are expected to come with a 120Hz screen refresh rate. It is expected to be powered by the Exynos 2100 SoC. A variant with Snapdragon 888 is also expected to arrive. On the camera front, it is likely to come with a 10MP camera on the exterior display. For selfies, it is likely to come with a 16MP camera. It may pack a 4,400mAh battery with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3
Samsung is also expected to launch the Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphone at its August 11 event. It is expected to come with a 6.9-inch primary display and a 1.9-inches secondary display with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and be available in Green, Purple, Black and White colour variants. It is likely to come with a 3,900mAh battery.
Infinix Smart 5A
The Infinix Smart 5A is tipped to launch in India on August 2. It is expected to be priced under ₹7,000. Coming to the features, the Infinix Smart 5A is tipped to come with a 6.52-inch HD+ display. It is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 SoC with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. It is likely to come with a 13MP+2MP rear camera setup and a 5,000mAh battery.
Realme GT 5G
The Realme GT 5G series is already available in China and is being offered in Blue, Silver, and Racing Yellow (vegan leather finish) colour options. In India, the Realme GT 5G is expected to be priced under Rs 40,000. The base model might cost around Rs 30,000. In China, the base variant is selling for CNY 2,799, which is around Rs 31,400 and in the European market, the same model is being sold for EUR 449 (approximately Rs 39,900).
As for the specifications, the flagship phone of Realme comes with a 6.43-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. The Chinese variant also offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, which is backed by up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. There is also a triple rear camera setup, which includes a 64MP Sony IMX682 primary sensor. Under the hood, there is a 4,500mAh battery. It offers support for 65W fast charging. The phone is expected to launch around 18th of August.
Asus Zenfone 8
The Taiwanese hardware specialist Asus is set to launch their flagship smartphone Zenfone 8. ZenFone series has enjoyed success in Taiwan and other Southeast Asian countries. The Asus Zenfone 8 will come with a 5.9 inch AMOLED display and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It will be one of the slimmest phones with a 69 mm width and weighing just 169 grams. The 5G enabled smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 888 chipset with up to 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Further, the Zenfone 8 has a dual-camera setup in the rear with a 64 megapixel f/1.8 Sony IMX686 primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 12-megapixel front selfie camera. All of the cameras are capable of 4K video recording. It has a large 4000 mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging. It is IP68 water-resistant, has dual stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack. The phone is expected to launch around August 11 with Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Fold 3.
Motorola Edge 20
Motorola launched their much-anticipated flagship series of smartphones the Motorola Edge 20. The smartphones are expected to go on sale in mid of August. The Motorola Edge 20 has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G processor and is available in both 8 and 12 GB RAM variants coupled with 128 and 256 GB internal memory storage respectively. The Edge 20 has a triple rear camera setup with a 108-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens.
The smartphone is capable of shooting 4K videos at 30 fps. The front selfie camera is 32 megapixels. The smartphone, however, lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. It has Bluetooth 5.0 and an under-display fingerprint sensor. It is powered by a 4000 mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging.
