New MacBook Pro M1X models appear in the latest regulatory filings

Apple is all set to start the mass production of the M1X MacBook Pro models in the third quart of 2021, which means we can expect to see the lineup being unveiled in Q4 of 2021.

In the regulatory filings, two new model numbers have appeared. They are A2442 and A2485, the EEC has not explicitly mentioned if these are the new M1X MacBook Pro models, but since the two designated numbers do not correspond to any previously launched Apple Macs, we can expect them to be new 14″ and 16″ machines.

We may get to see a hefty redesign with these models, perhaps they may sport flat edges like the iPhone 12. Both the devices will be powered by the M1X chipset.

The M1X chipset itself is said to feature a 10-core configuration, with eight of them focused on performance and the remaining two are designed for power efficiency. Apple is also said to offer 16-core and 32-core GPU configurations, so we will have to wait and see if these options will be available for both the 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro models or just one

Previous reports have stated that the M1X MacBook Pro lineup will sport a MagSafe connector, an HDMI port, and a Thunderbolt 4 port to provide versatility to customers. It will, however, unfortunately, forego the Touch Bar and be limited to 32GB RAM, it will have a UHS-II SD Card Reader present. Apple is also said to introduce min-LED screens for the first time in this product class which is also a welcome feature.

The new redesigned M1X MacBook Pro models rumoured to sport only 32 GB of RAM

The products that appear in the EEC Database are usually weeks from being released, since we are already in the 1st week of August, Apple appears to be on schedule to release the M1X Macs.
