Italian Football Association’s medical and scientific committee has decided Christian Eriksen’s future. The committee has decided that the Danish midfielder will not be allowed to register in Serie A this season until he has his implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) removed from his body.

Christian Eriksen had collapsed in a match during this year’s Euros and was saved because of quick action from his Danish national teammates and medical staff and was rushed to a hospital where the above-mentioned procedure was implemented.

However, this seems highly unlikely as the defibrillator maintains the rhythm of his heartbeat and is quite essential for the time being for Christian Eriksen. Nevertheless, Serie A officials do not wish any medical problems on the pitch. Therefore the authorities will allow the Danish star only once he is free from his medical inconsistency.

Francesco Braconaro, a member of the Italian Football Association’s scientific committee, stated publicly, “Christian Eriksen cannot be given the all-clear to play in Italy. If the player has the defibrillator removed, therefore confirming the pathology can be resolved, then he can return to play for Inter,” regarding the Danish midfielder.

However, if Christian Eriksen wishes to overturn the decision and takes it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, he will be having precedent on his side as Dutch international, and Ajax defender Daley Blind went through the same medical procedure and has continued to perform at the highest level.
