Juventus are planning to sign Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland next summer as the heir to Cristiano Ronaldo. The Norwegian has been clear about his desire to work with new Dortmund boss Marco Rose, saying:
‘I talked a little bit with new manager Marco Rose. I know him from before because I had six months with him in Salzburg. He’s a nice guy and I look forward to working with him.’
Cristiano Ronaldo currently has one year left on his deal with Juventus. He is yet to renew his contract, and the latest updates state that his agent, Jorge Mendes has asked the former Serie A champions for a new contract for his client. Whether or not Juventus will choose to continue with the 36-year-old is yet to be unveiled.
In any case, Haaland will have his €75 million release clause kicking in next year. The money will have to be paid in one instalment, but considering the talent involved, it is well worth the money. Juventus will be one of the many top European clubs in the race for his signature.
Chelsea are pursuing the youngster this summer, and are willing to bid around £150 million for him. Dortmund chief Michael Zorc has insisted that Haaland is not for sale this summer, especially after the departure of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United. So, should Chelsea’s plans to sign the player fail, Juventus will be a realistic destination for him next summer.
