Five franchises, 27 vacant spots and one evening in Kochi to fix everything. The WPL 2027 Auction is almost here, and for some teams, every lakh will count.

📋 WPL 2027 Auction at a Glance

🏏 Who’s on the List?

The pool includes 22 capped and 97 uncapped Indians. The overseas group has 14 capped and 13 uncapped players, six of them from Associate Nations. England’s Sophia Dunkley and Australia’s Sophie Molineux have registered at the highest base price of ₹50 lakh. The fifth season of the Women’s Premier League is scheduled to begin on January 14, 2027.

💰 Who Has the Money?

Purses vary widely, and that could shape the bidding:

• UP Warriorz: ₹3.75 crore for eight slots, including three overseas, the biggest purse in the auction
• Gujarat Giants: ₹1.25 crore for three slots
• Royal Challengers Bengaluru: ₹1.15 crore for five slots
• Delhi Capitals: ₹1.10 crore for five slots
• Mumbai Indians: ₹90 lakh for six slots, all reserved for Indian players

🔍 What to Watch For

UP Warriorz can make the loudest statement thanks to their purse. Mumbai Indians face the opposite problem: six places to fill with the smallest budget, and all of them for Indian players. Among the released names, UP let go of Amy Jones and Deandra Dottin, Gujarat released Danni Wyatt-Hodge, and Delhi parted with Lizelle Lee and Alana King, so those four could be the ones to watch.
