The current Olympics champion will not be a part of this year’s Tokyo Olympics as Mo Farah has failed to qualify since he failed to cover 10,000 meters under 27 minutes, 28 seconds and instead covered the distance in 27 minutes, 47.04 seconds and therefore has failed to grab the opportunity to defend his 10,000-meter title he won back in 2012 and 2016.

The British athlete further stated regarding his failure to participate in the marquee event “You go out there and give it all and that’s all you have,” he said. “It’s quite windy. I tried to push and push and I ran my lungs out.

“I’ve had a wonderful career. I’m very grateful. That’s all I had today. It’s a tough one. I’ve always said if I can’t compete with the best, I’m not going to be in a final. Tonight wasn’t good enough.”

This is the first ever the English athlete has failed to win the 10,000 meter since the past decade post shifting his attention towards the marathon back in 2017.

World record holder Joshua Cheptegei and Ugandan athlete Jacob Kiplimo will be competing for the English athlete’s top spot in this year’s Tokyo Olympics.

Throughout Mo’s career he has accumulated many accolades some of the most honourable and worth mentioning are 2013 AIPS Europe Sportsmen of the Year – Frank Taylor Trophy, 2016 BAWA Athlete of the Year and 2016 British Athletics Supporters Club athlete of the year.
