Alexander Nubel of Bayern Munich is set to join Monaco in France on a two-year loan deal, according to Florian Plettenberg of Sport 1. All negotiations pertaining to the transfer have been completed, and he is set to sign his deal either today, or tomorrow, following the medical examinations.

The player joined Bayern from Schalke on a free transfer in 2020, and only made 4 appearances between the sticks all season. Manuel Neuer has been the first choice keeper throughout the season, and the 24-year-old has been on the bench for the majority of the campaign. Hopefully, he will get more playing time in Ligue 1.

The player has a contract with Bayern until 2025, and it remains to be seen whether he will successfully replace Neuer or not. The club captain has been in tremendous form over the last few seasons, and led the club to a sextuple in 19/20, followed by a ninth Bundesliga title this past season.

Andre Onana of Ajax was also considered as an option. Monaco contacted the Dutch club about his services, but no agreement was reached.

Bayern are now set to confirm the return of long-time number 2 Sven Ulrich to the club on a two-year deal as the backup goalkeeper. The 32-year-old left the club in 2020, and joined Hamburg on a one-year deal. And now that his contract is set to expire, he will return to the Allianz Stadium this summer.
