Why Was Om Chapter 1 Postponed?
It’s a case of smart scheduling over stubborn pride. The film was originally set for October 16, 2026, but Dhanush himself confirmed the delay, explaining that he wanted to avoid a box-office collision with Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 and Suriya’s Scene, which is slated for November 6, 2026. Few producers would willingly share a weekend with Thalaivar, so the call makes sense.
Is November 26 the New Date?
Possibly. According to the Tamil Cinema Trade Guide shared by Sridhar Pillai, the film is slotted for November 26, 2026, alongside several other major Tamil releases this year. However, the makers haven’t made an official announcement, so treat it as a strong rumour for now. Want more South cinema updates? Why the Buzz Is Real?
You rarely see this lineup in one frame. Dhanush headlines the film, with Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela and Naseeruddin Shah in key roles. Add Sai Abhyankkar’s songs and background score, and a planned two-part saga, and it’s easy to see why fans are watching every update. Meanwhile, Dhanush has a busy run ahead. His next is D56, a violent actioner with director Tamizharasan Pachamuthu aimed at a Summer 2027 release, and he has also announced Thamizh Murugan with Vetrimaaran.
