Sony’s September 2026 State of Play delivered one of the year’s densest broadcasts, packing in everything from long-awaited sequels to surprise expansions across a wide range of genres. The showcase confirmed release windows for several heavily anticipated titles while also sneaking in a handful of genuine surprises for PS5 owners.
The headline reveal was easily Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, which closes out the Remake trilogy with a confirmed release date of April 8, 2027, alongside a story-extending DLC pushing the saga’s narrative into 2028 with Sephiroth and Vincent taking centre stage.

Existing PS5 hits weren’t left out either. Crimson Desert’s first major DLC, Charting the Unknown, was also dated for October 15.
Rounding out the showcase, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 confirmed a roster of over 130 playable and learnable characters, Maneater 2 was formally announced as a sequel to the shark-action hit, and Sony threw in a nod to gaming’s biggest upcoming release with limited-edition GTA 6 DualSense controllers, alongside a LEGO PlayStation console replica set for collectors.

The sheer breadth of the showcase, spanning JRPGs, survival horror, mecha action and shark-based chaos in a single broadcast, underlines how far Sony has moved from the single-tentpole showcase format of previous console generations toward a portfolio approach designed to keep every major genre audience engaged simultaneously.
With multiple 2027 release dates already locked in, PS5 owners now have a fairly clear roadmap of what to expect through the first half of next year, even as several of the showcase’s biggest reveals, including Until Dawn 2, remain without a confirmed date.
