Real Sociedad has reached an agreement with German-side Borussia Dortmund to buy their club’s buy-back option on Alexander Isak. The fee agreed upon is about 30 million euros which is much lower than his 70 million euro buyout clause.
Isak has been phenomenal lately. He is even being called the breakout star of Euro 2020 after a string of impressive performances for Sweden. He has also managed 17 goals and 2 assists in 44 appearances for La Real last season. This has made him the talk of the town in many top-flight European leagues.
Isak at Real Sodiedad till 2028?
The 21-year-old forward is enjoying a standout season at the European Championship and it is yet to be confirmed if he plans on continuing his stay at La Real. Reportedly the Spanish side is willing to offer him an improved contract until 2028 at the Reale Arena. Even Dortmund wanted to buy back Isak. They planned on playing him as a backup to Erling Haaland. However, he wants to be a starter, and rightly so.
Isak joined Real Sociedad from Dortmund in 2019 for 7 million euros. He came with a buy-back clause attached to him. His current contract lasts until 2024 and the Basques are keen to extend the deal. They fear big money offers could come in over the next few weeks from Europe’s elite clubs.
Looking at his latest performances it is obvious that big clubs will be looking at him. On the other hand, La Real doesn’t want to lose its talented striker. Real Sociedad is quite confident that he will sign an extension. But if Isak keeps on performing in this manner in Euros their will be big money deals incoming. Isak also won the Man of the Match award against Slovakia on Friday.
