Dive Into You: Park Seo Ham Reveals His Bodyguard Character’s Tragic Past With Kim Ji Yeon

A judo prodigy who trades the mat for a suit and a decade of unspoken love — that’s the fresh layer just unveiled for Park Seo Ham’s character in the upcoming fantasy romance Dive Into You. New stills dive deep into the tragic backstory driving one of the drama’s central relationships.

From National Judo Hopeful to Devoted Bodyguard

Park Seo Ham plays Jung Woo Jae, a reticent, cool-headed bodyguard whose judo skills once rivaled a national athlete’s. Despite that promise, he was forced to abandon the sport and eventually became the personal bodyguard of Yoon Ha Na (WJSN’s Kim Ji Yeon) — the A-list actress he’s secretly loved since high school.

The twist that gives the story its emotional core: while protecting Yoon Ha Na, Jung Woo Jae meets a tragic end. It’s only when Ha Na and her twin brother Yoon Ha Ru (Jang Se Hyuk) discover they can travel back in time using an old camcorder that he gets a second shot at life.

The newly released stills contrast two very different versions of Jung Woo Jae:

That visual gap raises an obvious question fans are already buzzing about: what actually forced him to give up judo in the first place?

Dive Into You: Overview

Why This Character Reveal Matters

Bodyguard-and-star romances are a well-worn trope, but layering in a tragic death, a time-travel reset, and an unresolved athletic past gives Jung Woo Jae far more dimension than the archetype usually gets. It also raises the emotional stakes of the show’s central time-travel mission — Ha Na isn’t just trying to prevent a random death, she’s trying to give back a life that was cut short before it could fully unfold.

With the premiere just weeks away, this character-focused reveal is clearly designed to build investment in Jung Woo Jae before the story even begins.
