Mirzapur: The Movie Advance Booking Sets Box Office On Fire With Rs 20 Crore Plus Opening Day

Just when fans thought Mirzapur had said its final goodbye, the franchise is back — this time on the big screen — and ticket counters are proving that Kaleen Bhaiya’s world still commands a massive following. Mirzapur: The Movie, starring Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, and Divyenndu, has clocked a thunderous advance booking, putting it on track for a Rs 20 crore-plus opening day at the domestic box office.

Mirzapur: The Movie -Advance Booking Numbers Tell the Story

As of 9 PM on release eve, the film had already crossed the 1-lakh-ticket mark across PVR INOX and Cinepolis alone. With a few more hours of sales left before showtime, trade estimates suggest the final advance could settle between 1.2 to 1.25 lakh tickets — a number strong enough to put it ahead of recent competitor Awarapan 2.

Why the Buzz Is Real

Mirzapur isn’t a new name walking into theatres cold. The crime drama series that originated on a streaming platform built a cult following over multiple seasons before making the jump to cinema as a reboot rather than a direct continuation. That distinction matters — a fresh narrative angle is drawing in both loyal fans and newcomers curious about the hype.

A public holiday for Janmashtami is expected to further boost footfalls, particularly in high-turnout states like Gujarat, giving the film a genuine shot at edging past its closest trade rival on opening day.

The Bigger Picture

Trade voices note that had the previous television season landed better with audiences, the film’s opening could have soared even higher. Still, nobody’s complaining — an IP this strong turning in a Rs 20 crore-plus start proves that established franchises remain box office gold, reboot or not.
