Four years after breaking hearts with David and Lucy’s story, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners finally returns — and it’s headlining one of Netflix’s busiest anime months yet. From weekly shonen drops to a beloved rom-com’s comeback, here’s everything landing in October 2026.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Returns — Without David and Lucy
The biggest event of the month is undoubtedly Edgerunners’ comeback. This standalone 10-episode season trades the original’s cast for new faces: Weak, a burnt-out cyberpunk legend adjusting to life without chrome, and D, a nomad chasing revenge that pulls him into dangerous corporate secrets. Studio Trigger and CD Projekt Red return to Night City, a setting rooted in the wider cyberpunk genre known for blending high-tech dystopia with deeply personal stakes.
Weekly Favorites Keep the Momentum Going
Romance fans get a double win this month. Blue Box returns after roughly a year and a half, picking back up with Taiki and Chinatsu’s slow-burn dynamic, while The Ramparts of Ice kicks off its second season following Koyuki Hikawa’s guarded world slowly cracking open thanks to an unexpectedly persistent classmate.
Meanwhile, shonen loyalists have plenty to track: Steel Ball Run continues its weekly run after a fan-driven course correction from Netflix earlier this year, and One Piece wraps up Part 1 of its Elbaf Arc before going on hiatus until 2027.
Should You Bookmark This Month?
With a genre mix spanning gritty sci-fi, sports romance, and long-running shonen staples, October 2026 is shaping up to be one of the more balanced anime months on Netflix in a while — there’s something here whether you’re chasing nostalgia or brand-new stories.
