Maranamass Cast: Basil Joseph’s Dark Comedy Thriller You Can’t Miss

Ever get the feeling a “comedy” is hiding something much darker underneath? That’s exactly the vibe Maranamass brings — a Basil Joseph starrer that mixes murder, mischief, and unusual mayhem into one unpredictable Malayalam ride.

What’s Maranamass About?

Kerala is gripped by fear as a series of murders echo the crimes of a real-life-inspired killer known as “Ripper Chandran.” As DySP Ajay Ramachandran (played by Babu Antony) leads the investigation, Basil Joseph’s character stirs chaos with his own brand of bizarre antics — from fishing in a temple pond to listing an entire police station for sale online. With a criminal on the loose and a Rs. 10 lakh bounty on his head, the film blends dark comedy with a genuinely gripping crime mystery.

Why the Maranamass Cast Stands Out

What makes the Maranamass cast so compelling is the mix of comic energy and understated menace. Basil Joseph, known for his knack of blending humor with unsettling undertones, leads an ensemble that includes seasoned performers like Babu Antony and Rajesh Madhavan. Backing the project as producer is Tovino Thomas, continuing his track record of championing offbeat, genre-bending Malayalam cinema.

The film released on April 10, 2025, coinciding with Vishu, and went head-to-head with major titles like Mammootty’s Bazooka and Naslen’s Alappuzha Gymkhana — a testament to how much confidence the makers had in this quirky crime-comedy.
