Barcelona Sign Gabriel Jesus in €10m Deal, Filling the Void Left by Lewandowski

Barcelona’s summer of surprises isn’t done yet. The Catalan giants have agreed a €10 million deal plus add-ons to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal, with the Brazilian striker set for a medical on Monday after Barça’s long pursuit of Julián Álvarez finally stalled.

The Deal in Detail

Arsenal have given Jesus permission to travel to Spain to finalise his medical, ahead of signing a two-year contract with the option to extend by a further season. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement with his trademark “here we go,” noting the fee represents a steep discount on the €52 million Arsenal originally paid Manchester City for Jesus back in 2022.

Barcelona Sign Gabriel Jesus: Key Details

Why Arsenal Let Him Go

Jesus had fallen behind Viktor Gyökeres and Kai Havertz in Mikel Arteta’s pecking order, managing just three Premier League starts last season after a serious knee injury. With one year left on his contract, Arsenal were motivated to move him on, freeing up wage space as they continue chasing Julián Álvarez before the deadline.

What’s Next for Both Clubs

For Barcelona, Jesus fills an urgent need up front following Lewandowski’s exit, while Arsenal’s sale opens the door for a potential marquee striker arrival of their own. Fans can follow official confirmation via the FC Barcelona official website.
