At 74, Rajinikanth is apparently out-vibing actors half his age — at least according to his own director. Speaking at a Galatta event, Marimuthu shared that two shooting schedules are already complete, and praised Rajinikanth’s energy on set, calling it a genuine “Gen-Z vibe.”

Behind the Scenes Charm

Marimuthu didn’t hold back on praise, describing Rajinikanth as one of the sweetest people he’s worked with, despite having collaborated with younger stars before. He even shared a small, telling detail: the veteran actor stands up whenever the director approaches — a gesture Rajinikanth attributed simply to respect for the craft and the person directing him. It’s a reminder of the humility that’s stayed with the actor across five decades of stardom, something you can read more about in the broader history of Indian cinema on Wikipedia.

Rajinikanth is set to play a stylish doctor in Dharman, joined by Simran Bagga, Yogi Babu, and Raashii Khanna, with speculation swirling that Ram Pothineni could take on the antagonist role — though this remains unconfirmed. What’s Next for Rajinikanth

Beyond Dharman, the actor’s slate is packed. He’ll next appear in Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, releasing October 15, 2026, with a star-studded cast including cameos from Hrithik Roshan, Mohanlal, and Vijay Sethupathi. Further down the line, a much-anticipated reunion with Kamal Haasan, tentatively titled KHxRK Reunion, is also in the pipeline. With two schedules already behind them and a firm October wrap date in sight, Dharman is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched releases in Rajinikanth’s already legendary career.
