Ten days in, “Awarapan 2” has done what almost no Bollywood sequel has managed before: turn a career-defining flop into Emraan Hashmi’s biggest hit ever. But the film’s smooth run is about to face its toughest test yet — Yash’s “Toxic” opens this week, and it’s coming for the screens.

Awarapan 2: 10-Day Collections

Period	Nett
Week 1	Rs. 111.50 cr
2nd Friday	Rs. 5.25 cr
2nd Saturday	Rs. 8.00 cr
2nd Sunday	Rs. 8.50 cr
Total (10 days)	Rs. 133.25 cr

A Second Sunday That Fell Short

The film added Rs. 8.50 crore on its second Sunday — only a small bump over Saturday’s number, when trade watchers expected a sharper spike. That soft finish closed out the second weekend at Rs. 21.75 crore, a noticeably slower pace than the film’s dominant opening week.

Why The Next Few Days Matter

With Toxic opening this week and expected to grab a majority of screens, “Awarapan 2” is projected to slow further, likely wrapping the week around Rs. 140 crore. From there, the film is on track to close its full theatrical run near Rs. 150 crore nett, cementing its status as a Super Hit for backers Vishesh Films.

Why This Sequel Remains Historic

The original “Awarapan” was a commercial disaster in 2007 before earning cult status over the years — and turning that into a sequel-driven blockbuster is close to unprecedented in Hindi cinema. Last year’s revival of intense, music-driven love stories reminded audiences of Emraan Hashmi‘s peak run through films like Murder 2, Raaz 3, and Jannat 2, setting the stage for this comeback. While flops-turned-hits via re-releases (like Sanam Teri Kasam and Laila Majnu) happened last year, a full sequel achieving this scale of success is a first.
