Carlo Ancelotti is keen on convincing Sergio Ramos to stay at Real Madrid. The Italian was recently announced as the successor to Zinedine Zidane, and will embark on his second spell at Madrid in the upcoming season. One of the points he addressed in his first press conference was the topic of Sergio Ramos and his contract.
The Madrid skipper has been adamant about his demands for a two-year extension at the same salary. However, the club are only willing to offer him a one-year contract. Moreover, Ramos has also been protesting the 10% wage cut that the board has imposed. His reason for it is that the club plans on using the money saved to fund a transfer for Kylian Mbappe this summer.
Reports over the last few days have indicated that Madrid have planned a farewell for their captain should he choose to leave. The rumoured plans involved him being pictured alongside the 22 trophies that he led the club to, during his 16-year spell.Â
Newer findings suggest that Carlo Ancelotti is still trying to convince Ramos to stay. Also, the contract extension will still be on for the centre-back if he calls the club and chooses to accept their offer before his deal expires.
However, while the offer is still on the table, the 35-year-old has not told the club that he intends on staying. He has also not made any suggestion of wanting to stay in the city.
