One of India’s most beloved and iconic crime drama franchises is finally coming to the big screen — and the official trailer is here to prove it means business. The Mirzapur: The Movie trailer is out, bringing back Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Bhaiya as the franchise heads to the big screen. The trailer offers fans a glimpse into the war of the Mirzapur throne among Pankaj Tripathi, Ravi Kishan and others.
The Trailer Is Out — What Happened Before It Dropped
Following the massive reception of the teaser, which quickly claimed the number one spot on YouTube trending lists, the makers confirmed that the official full-length trailer would drop on August 11, 2026.
The makers unveiled four new character posters ahead of the trailer launch, featuring Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Jitendra Kumar as Bablu Pandit.
To mark the trailer launch, Excel Entertainment held a high-profile media event in Mumbai — a significant moment for the production as the principal cast, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu, shared a public stage together for the first time since the film was officially announced.

What The Trailer Shows
The trailer takes fans straight back into the familiar world of Mirzapur. The trademark intensity, dark humour and memorable dialogues are all back. However, the scale is much bigger this time.
At the heart of the story is the fight for the Gaddi. New contenders enter the race and challenge the existing power structure. As the battle for power intensifies, the story also moves beyond Purvanchal.

The central focus of this new chapter is the contest for control of Mirzapur, with new challengers entering the scene and altering the power dynamics.
The initial footage has already racked up millions of views, suggesting that the transition to theatres has not dampened the enthusiasm of the core fanbase.
The Story
The film brings back iconic characters of Mirzapur — Kaleen Bhaiya played by Pankaj Tripathi, Guddu Pandit played by Ali Fazal — and marks the much-anticipated comeback of Munna Bhaiya, played by Divyenndu, one of the franchise’s most loved characters.
The film remains rooted in the timeline that began with Mirzapur Season 1 in 2018. This time, the franchise is moving from the streaming world to theatres with a new story designed for the big screen.
The transition from the digital screen to the silver screen is a rare move for Indian franchises, but Mirzapur: The Movie appears ready to make that leap with significant scale. After years of ruling the streaming charts, the announcement of a theatrical feature has created a unique buzz in the industry.

Production Journey
The muhurat puja was held on 14 August 2025 at the Excel office in Mumbai with the presence of the film’s cast and crew.

In August 2025, Ravi Kishan joined the cast. In September 2025, Mohit Malik was added to the cast.
Production later moved to Varanasi in October 2025 for its second schedule, which was completed within the same month.
The film was subsequently shot in Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, giving the production its vast desert landscape visible in the trailer — a notable visual departure from the franchise’s earlier, more contained settings.
