Genius Girlfriend: Everything To Know Before This Chinese Youth Romance Premieres

Chinese youth dramas have a special charm — nostalgic school days, slow-burn chemistry, and smart leads falling for each other one problem set at a time. Genius Girlfriend is the latest entry in this beloved genre, and it’s already generating serious buzz ahead of its premiere.

Genius Girlfriend: Overview

What’s The Story About?

The series follows Lin Zhixia, a gifted but socially reserved genius who has never had a close friend since childhood. After being admitted to the prestigious Provincial No. 1 Middle School, she meets Jiang Yubai — a sunny, top-performing student — during a problem-solving competition, and the two become desk mates. As a natural social butterfly, Jiang helps Lin navigate friendships and fit in, introducing her to a circle that includes Tang Tingting, Duan Qiyan, Shen Fuxuan, and Jin Baihui. What begins as an unlikely academic partnership slowly blossoms into something deeper, following their journey from campus life all the way to adulthood.
