India walks into Day 7 sitting comfortably in the top 10 — and a stacked athletics and boxing lineup could push that tally even higher by midnight.

Where India stands heading into Day 7

India enters Day 7 of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with 12 medals — two gold, seven silver, and three bronze — placing the contingent 9th in the overall standings after Day 6. Weightlifting has been India’s strongest discipline so far, contributing the bulk of the tally, while athletics and boxing now take center stage as the Games head into their second full week.

The medal hopes to watch

Birmingham 2022 silver medallist Murali Sreeshankar returns to the long jump final looking to reclaim a Commonwealth podium spot, joined by compatriot Lokesh Sathyanathan. Parul Chaudhary, chasing her maiden Commonwealth Games medal, competes in the women’s 3000m steeplechase final after a strong build-up through the Asian Games and Asian Championships circuit. National record holder Tajinderpal Singh Toor also begins his shot put campaign, while India’s boxing contingent — including Jaismine Lamboria, Sakshi Chaudhary, and Ankush Panghal — has multiple quarterfinal bouts that could lock in at least three more bronze medals regardless of outcome, thanks to the Games’ semifinal-bronze format.
