Westeros just lost one of its most hated knights — and it didn’t take long. Episode 6 of “House of the Dragon” Season 3 wastes no time delivering one of the season’s biggest deaths, plus several gut-punch twists that reshape the war for the Iron Throne.

How Does Criston Cole Die?

After vowing in the previous episode to die a glorious warrior’s death, Criston Cole instead walks straight into a trap. He and his remaining Green soldiers stumble on what looks like a slaughtered rivermen camp — until the “corpses” spring to life. The Winter Wolves and young Lord Oscar Tully ambush what’s left of his forces, and archer Alysanne Blackwood finishes him with a hail of arrows. It’s an undignified end for a man who spent two seasons building himself up as the realm’s greatest warrior.

Major Events From House Of The Dragon Episode 6

Event	What Happened
Criston Cole’s Death	Killed in an ambush by the Winter Wolves within the episode’s opening minutes
Rhaenyra In King’s Landing	Grows suspicious and increasingly authoritarian as unrest spreads
Daemon’s Struggle	Fights to maintain order in the capital amid rising chaos
Gwayne Hightower	Uncovers and stops an assassination plot against Ormund and Daeron
Aemond & Alys Rivers	Discover five hidden dragon eggs at Harrenhal
Corlys Velaryon	Ambushed by Hightower forces in a cliffhanger ending

What It Means Going Forward

Cole’s death removes one of the show’s most polarizing figures, but the fallout is immediate. Rhaenyra’s grip on King’s Landing is already fraying, and the newly discovered dragon eggs at Harrenhal hint that fresh dragons could still enter the war. Meanwhile, Corlys’s fate hangs in the balance heading into the season’s final two episodes, setting up a tense final stretch of the Dance of the Dragons.
