From X-Men to Ghost Rider: Marvel’s Phase 8 Boldest Rumors Yet

Marvel Studios is gearing up for its next big era, and fan excitement is at an all-time high. Titles like “X-Men: Deadly Genesis” or “Eternals: Celestial Judgment” have been circulating online — but how many of these are actually real? Here’s a clear, honest look at what’s confirmed, what’s rumored, and what’s simply fan-coined speculation.

Marvel’s Phase 8- Confirmed vs. Rumored: Know the Difference

Before diving in, it helps to separate fact from fan theory. None of the specific subtitles below (like “Deadly Genesis” or “Annihilation of Wave”) have been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios — they appear to be fan-created names attached to real, in-development projects. Here’s the actual status of each.

1. X-Men (aka “Deadly Genesis”)

Marvel Studios has confirmed it’s actively developing a full X-Men reboot for the MCU, complete with a director already attached. “Deadly Genesis” is the name of a real X-Men comic storyline, but Marvel hasn’t confirmed it as the film’s actual title.

2. Eternals Sequel (aka “Celestial Judgment”)

Talk of a follow-up to “Eternals” has swung back and forth for years. Studio chief Kevin Feige once said there were “no immediate plans,” though newer reports suggest the door may not be fully shut. No subtitle has been confirmed.

3. Fantastic Four Sequel (aka “Annihilation of Wave”)

With “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” introducing Marvel’s first family to the MCU, a sequel feels inevitable as the team edges toward bigger cosmic stakes. Still, no official title or release date exists yet.

4. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4

Director James Gunn has said multiple times that Vol. 3 was meant to close this chapter of the team’s journey, making a traditional Vol. 4 unlikely — even if fans keep hoping.

5. Doctor Strange 3 (aka “Incursions of Insanity”)

Chatter about a third Doctor Strange film has persisted since “Multiverse of Madness,” but Marvel has confirmed nothing concrete — no cast, no plot, and definitely no official title.

6. Deadpool & Spider-Man

Pairing Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool with Spider-Man remains one of the internet’s favorite dream crossovers. It’s a fun idea fans keep pushing, but it’s purely speculative right now.

7. Ghost Rider

This is the real deal. Marvel Studios officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 that Ryan Gosling will play Ghost Rider, with Shawn Levy directing and a release planned for 2028 — making it the most solid, confirmed project on this entire list.

8. Uncanny X-Force

A beloved black-ops mutant team from the comics, but there’s currently no official confirmation that Marvel is developing this specific project for film or television.

9. Dark Avengers

This villain-led team concept gets brought up by fans regularly as a potential future MCU storyline, but Marvel hasn’t confirmed any plans to bring it to screen.

Marvel’s interconnected, multi-phase storytelling approach has reshaped modern blockbuster filmmaking over the past decade — you can read more about how this shared universe model works on Wikipedia.

Why This Matters for Fans

With so many creative fan titles circulating, it’s easy to lose track of what Marvel has actually confirmed versus what’s just exciting speculation. Ghost Rider stands out as the one genuinely locked-in project here, while the rest remain worth watching as Marvel gradually reveals its post-Multiverse Saga roadmap over the coming months.
