8 Netflix Series You Can’t Miss This August

August is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s busiest months yet, blending emotional farewells, dark comedy, and prestige literary adaptations. Whether you’re into teen drama, Nordic noir, or animated existential musings from Ricky Gervais, there’s something landing in your queue this month.

Netflix Shows to Watch

My Life With the Walter Boys (Season 3) returns August 6, picking up right after that dramatic love-triangle cliffhanger, with Jackie, Cole, and Alex navigating fallout, new rivals, and a childhood friend who complicates everything.

Alley Cats, debuting August 7, is Ricky Gervais’s animated take on loneliness and belonging, told through the eyes of stray cats fending for themselves on the streets, with Gervais voicing a lead role himself.

Revival arrives August 20, a subversive zombie drama where the dead return to a small Wisconsin town with their memories and personalities intact — just immortal, fast-healing, and unnervingly violent.

Blood Sacrifice, also landing August 20, is a five-part Nordic Noir thriller set in Stockholm, following an investigator and his estranged detective father as they hunt a serial killer targeting police officers.

Outer Banks (Season 5) closes out the Pogues’ saga on August 20, dropping all 10 episodes at once as the group mourns JJ’s death and braces for one final fight against the Kooks and Corsairs.

My Brilliant Career, out August 25, adapts Miles Franklin’s classic novel into a six-episode period drama about an ambitious young writer navigating rural Australia and unwanted suitors.

Leanne (Season 2) returns August 27 with new cast additions, continuing the hit multi-cam sitcom about starting over after a sudden divorce.

The Sex Lives of College Girls (Seasons 1–3) hits Netflix August 31 as a major licensed pickup, following four college friends through love triangles and campus chaos at a fictional Vermont college.
