Some films tackle history head-on, and “Assassins” looks ready to do exactly that. The first teaser for this politically charged thriller just dropped, and it’s already gripping.

Assassins: A Shooting That Shook A Nation

“Assassins” investigates the mystery behind a shooting incident that occurs during South Korea’s National Liberation Day ceremony — a moment meant for national unity shattered by a single gunshot. The teaser captures that horror precisely: the crowd’s silence, the sudden chaos, and the aftermath that follows.

Character	Actor	Role In The Investigation
Detective Cheol Gu	Yoo Hae Jin	Relentlessly pursues the case
Journalist Jae Hwan	Park Hae Il	Digs for truth despite outside pressure
Rookie Journalist Young Il	Lee Min Ho	Witnessed the event, pulled into suspicion

Three Men, One Dangerous Truth

The story follows three men whose paths intertwine as they each chase the truth from different angles — a veteran detective, an experienced journalist facing external pressure, and a rookie reporter thrust into the center of the mystery after seeing the shooting firsthand. It’s a setup that promises layered tension between institutional power, media scrutiny, and personal risk.

With Lee Min Ho stepping into a more serious, thriller-driven role and Yoo Hae Jin and Park Hae Il bringing veteran gravitas, “Assassins” looks positioned as one of the more anticipated Korean political thrillers of the year.

“Assassins” is scheduled to premiere in September.
