Early trends suggest Saturday could turn into one of the standout single days for a Hollywood release in India this year.

Why Saturday Is So Strong
The growth is being driven almost entirely by standard-format shows, since IMAX and other premium large formats were already running close to full capacity on opening day and have less room left to expand. Standard shows, on the other hand, are surging by nearly 50%, pushing the film’s overall Saturday number well past its Friday total.
For comparison, Oppenheimer had grown by just 16% on its first Saturday back in 2023. The Odyssey’s 30-35% jump puts it in a noticeably stronger position at the same stage of release.
Weekend And Beyond
With a two-day total tracking around Rs 45 crore, the film is firmly on course for a Rs 70 crore-plus opening weekend in India, with the high end of estimates reaching as much as Rs 75 crore if Sunday holds up the momentum. That would put The Odyssey more than 20% ahead of Oppenheimer’s opening weekend haul.
Oppenheimer eventually closed its India run at Rs 159 crore lifetime, a number The Odyssey is now considered highly likely to cross, with trackers eyeing a possible run closer to Rs 200 crore.
A Global Phenomenon
India isn’t the only market where projections are climbing. In North America, weekend estimates that initially hovered around $100 million have since been revised upward to $125 million-plus, with similar upgrades being reported across several international markets. The film, based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic, a foundational work of Western literature detailed on Wikipedia, is now tracking toward the $1 billion mark worldwide.
