Cinderella’s story is getting flipped on its head, and Netflix just made sure you’ll want to watch. Three heavy-hitting names — Daniel Radcliffe, Peter Dinklage, and Young Mazino — have officially joined the voice cast of Steps, the streamer’s first fully in-house animated feature.

Here’s everything you need to know before it hits screens this November.

Steps: Cast Snapshot

Peter Dinklage	Roderick	Game of Thrones, The Station Agent

A Cinderella Story — Told by the “Villains”

Steps isn’t your typical fairy tale. It follows Lilith, one of Cinderella’s so-called evil stepsisters, who steals the Fairy Godmother’s wand and crashes the Royal Ball — accidentally handing the kingdom over to a scheming new ruler. What follows is a chaotic, heartfelt quest where Lilith has to team up with Cinderella herself to set things right.

It’s a clever twist on the classic Cinderella tale, reframing the story’s most maligned characters as the real heroes.

Meet the New Additions

Daniel Radcliffe voices The Prince, and according to co-director John Ripa, he brought a “quirky, big-hearted humor” that makes this version unlike any prince audiences have seen before.

Peter Dinklage takes on Roderick, described as a “murderous man-nanny” who has to feel both threatening and secretly driven by love — a tricky balance the directors say Dinklage nails effortlessly.

Young Mazino plays Gef, the film’s unexpected romantic lead. Co-director Alyce Tzue called him “our unexpected heartthrob,” praising the humility and heart he brings to the role.

Why This Movie Is a Big Deal for Netflix

Steps marks a genuine milestone — it’s the first film produced entirely within Netflix Animation Studios, rather than through an outside partner. Directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, and produced by Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions, the film reportedly evolved away from being a full musical during development, aiming instead for sharper comedy and more grounded character work.

With a cast that already includes Ali Wong, Stephanie Hsu, Amanda Seyfried, Bette Midler, and Nikki Glaser, adding Radcliffe, Dinklage, and Mazino rounds out one of the most star-studded animated lineups Netflix has assembled.

When Can You Watch It?

Steps is set to release globally on Netflix on November 20, 2026. Given the scale of the voice cast and the studio’s clear investment in the project, it’s shaping up to be one of the platform’s biggest animated releases of the year.
