A Bona Fide Killer: A Sniper Mom, A Reporter, and A Detective Collide on One Rooftop

Some working moms juggle school pickups and deadlines. Yu Bo Na juggles sniper missions and spreadsheets — and honestly, that premise alone makes “A Bona Fide Killer” one of the more intriguing new dramas on the horizon. MBC just dropped a striking new set of character posters, and the tension between its three leads is already electric.

Kong Hyo Jin returns to MBC for the first time in 15 years, starring as Yu Bo Na — an unassuming sales manager by day and the legendary sniper “Kingfisher” by night. Around her orbit two men who don’t yet realize how close they are to the truth: Kwon Tae Seong (Jung Jun Won), a reporter chasing Kingfisher’s story, and Lee Dong Jin (Lee Sang Yi), a detective determined to bring the elusive killer to justice.

A Bona Fide Killer: Meet the Rooftop Trio

The new posters were shot on a single rooftop, deliberately placing all three characters in the same space to highlight their clashing motivations. Yu Bo Na appears cold and composed, sniper rifle in hand, radiating the precision of someone who’s never missed a shot. Kwon Tae Seong’s expression mixes determination with unease — he once covered Kingfisher’s exploits obsessively before stepping away from journalism, and now the signs of her return are dragging him back in. Meanwhile, Lee Dong Jin stands firm with his weapon raised, embodying a detective who chose justice over personal revenge after a painful loss in his past.

What makes the setup so compelling is that none of them fully understand who they’re really chasing — or standing next to. The production team says the goal was to portray each character’s individual story in a balanced way, promising an unpredictable ride as their paths keep crossing.

This kind of morally layered thriller fits neatly within the broader tradition of the action drama genre, where personal identity and justice are rarely as clear-cut as they seem.

“A Bona Fide Killer” premieres July 31 at 9:50 p.m. KST, and if these posters are any indication, this rooftop standoff is only the beginning.
