X-Men ’97 Season 2 Premiere: Did Magneto Actually Rewrite Apocalypse’s Fate?

After a nearly two-year wait, X-Men ’97 Season 2 finally dropped on Disney+, and it wasted no time throwing fans back into the chaos. The three-episode premiere picks up right where Season 1’s gut-punch finale left off — the team scattered across time, philosophies clashing, and one very determined Magneto trying to rewrite destiny itself.

The X-Men, Scattered Across Time

Forge and Bishop build a time-travel device to bring everyone home, but the rescue mission gets complicated fast. Here’s where everyone lands:

X-Men ’97- Magneto’s Big Gamble

In Ancient Egypt, Magneto sees an opportunity most mutants wouldn’t dare touch — mentoring En Sabah Nur before he becomes the tyrant known as Apocalypse. He believes that if he can shape Nur’s worldview early, humanity and mutants might finally find peace instead of war. Professor X, ever the cautious optimist, isn’t so sure — he warns that tampering with the timeline could create the very future they’re trying to avoid.

Their disagreement isn’t just plot mechanics — it’s the same ideological tug-of-war that’s defined Xavier and Magneto’s friendship for decades, now playing out with the fate of the world hanging in the balance.

So, Did He Succeed?

Here’s the honest answer: we don’t know yet. The premiere ends on a cliffhanger, with the team caught in a laser strike from Rama-Tut’s forces and their fate left hanging. The show deliberately keeps the outcome open, hinting that rewriting history isn’t as simple as stopping one villain — every choice seems to spawn new consequences instead of erasing old ones.
