Not every film needs a blockbuster opening to win the long game. Imtiaz Ali’s “Main Vaapas Aaunga” started with a modest one-crore first day, yet three weeks later, it’s still standing strong at the box office — a quiet reminder that steady word-of-mouth can outlast a flashy debut.

The romantic drama collected Rs 1.20 crore on its third Thursday, pushing its three-week total to an estimated Rs 49.20 crore net in India. What makes this run notable isn’t just the number — it’s the consistency. Despite sharing screens with “Welcome To The Jungle” through week three, the film dropped only 25% compared to week two, a relatively gentle decline for a movie this deep into its theatrical run.

Main Vaapas Aaunga: Week-by-Week Breakdown

Period	Collection (Nett)
Week One	Rs 11.50 crore
Week Two	Rs 21.25 crore
3rd Friday–Sunday	Rs 11.00 crore
3rd Monday–Thursday	Rs 5.45 crore
Total (21 Days)	Rs 49.20 crore

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, known for crafting emotionally layered love stories throughout his career, the film now faces its toughest test yet: a fourth week up against the high-octane “Alpha,” starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. How it holds against that competition will likely decide whether it secures a Clean Hit verdict.

What’s Next for the Film?

Trade estimates suggest the film needs a solid fourth weekend to have any real shot at crossing the Rs 65–70 crore mark domestically. Given its unusually low opening compared to its current total, “Main Vaapas Aaunga” has already outperformed initial expectations — proving that a slow-burn theatrical run isn’t necessarily a losing one.
