Haiwaan Release Date Locked: Akshay Kumar & Saif Ali Khan Reunite After 18 Years for Priyadarshan’s Most Thrilling Film Yet

Mark your calendars — September 11, 2026 just became the most exciting date in Bollywood. Haiwaan, the much-anticipated suspense thriller headlined by Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, finally has an official release date, and the excitement around it is absolutely justified. This is a film that has been generating quiet buzz for months, and the wait is nearly over.

Haiwaan — Everything You Need to Know

The Reunion 18 Years in the Making

Let that sink in — Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan haven’t shared the screen together since Tashan in 2008. The film marks their massive on-screen reunion after nearly 18 years. That alone is enough to make any Bollywood fan sit up. But Haiwaan isn’t just riding on nostalgia — it’s coming with a serious creative vision behind it.

Helming the project is veteran master storyteller Priyadarshan, who is moving from his usual comedies to deliver a gritty, high-octane suspense thriller. Anyone who has followed Priyadarshan’s career knows that when he steps out of his comfort zone, the results are often extraordinary.

The announcement came via an official poster release with the caption: “One obsession. One relentless pursuit. One date you’ll want to remember.” Poetic, intense, and exactly what you’d want from a thriller of this scale.

A Cast That Has No Right to Be This Stacked

Beyond the iconic lead duo, the ensemble here is genuinely jaw-dropping. The film features Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, Kajol, Bobby Deol, Boman Irani, and Jisshu Sengupta — and adding to the excitement, Malayalam cinema icon Mohanlal is set to make a highly anticipated cameo appearance.

Priyadarshan himself confirmed Mohanlal’s involvement, while being careful to keep the character details under wraps — teasing fans just enough to fuel their curiosity. The director also shared his creative philosophy, stating he never chases stars first: “First is always the script. Then the actor follows. Whenever you get a script, then go behind the right cast — that’s the right way of making films.” Coming from a filmmaker of his stature, that’s both reassuring and exciting. Sky Sports
