Mollywood Times OTT Release — Key Details

What Is Mollywood Times About?

The film follows Vineeth Madhavan, a young man from Kuttikkanam who dreams of becoming the greatest horror filmmaker in Malayalam cinema, inspired by M. Night Shyamalan. Undeterred by his father’s repeated warnings about the industry’s harsh realities, he sets out on an ambitious journey, convinced his vision can revive Malayalam horror cinema.

Beginning with short films, Vineeth gradually works toward directing a feature film — navigating industry politics, creative disagreements, disputes over authorship, and the constant challenge of preserving his artistic vision. As pressures mount, he finds himself at odds with a system he believes discourages originality, forced to confront the cost of his uncompromising ambition.

It’s the kind of story that feels deeply personal — and it is. The film is said to draw inspiration from the novel The Fountainhead as well as director Abhinav Sunder Nayak’s own experiences in the industry. This is also described by the team as “a love-hate letter to Malayalam cinema” — and that framing says everything about its spirit.
